Cormark International is an importer of sustainably sourced exotic woods from all over the world. We’ve just launched a brand-new community initiative in an effort to raise money for charity in a unique and fun way. The Wood for Community Good Initiative is designed to be a partnership with artisan woodworkers in the region with a combined goal to raise funds for local non-profits.
How it works:
Cormark has donated wood from the off-cut bin to a select group of woodworkers. These artisans were challenged to make a project of their choice using these wood scraps to create a work of art. Woodworkers donated the finished handcrafted item and the items will then be sold in an online auction. Each auction will have a theme and a charity selected, in the hopes of making an impact in our community.
How do you get involved?
The first handcrafted works of art will be auctioned in an online auction starting Thursday, April 21st, 2022. The inspiration for this challenge was gifts for Mother’s Day. Auction bids close at 4:59 pm on Sunday, May 1st. You can view the auction here.
All proceeds of this first challenge will be going to the food bank at the Big Ivy Community Center in Barnardsville (Buncombe County). Their Nutrition Works program aims to to increase access to healthy foods to all residents of Big Ivy and the Barnardsville area.
