Wood for Good:
Creating Beauty for Charity

Cormark has launched a new community initiative in an effort to raise money for charity in a unique and fun way for participating woodworkers. Cormark is launching the Wood for Community Good Initiative. This initiative is designed to be a partnership between us and woodworkers in the region with a goal to raise funds for local non-profits.
How it works: Cormark donates wood from our off-cut bin for you to use to create a handcrafted item. A select group of woodworkers will be challenged to make a themed project of their choice using wood scraps. Woodworkers are asked to donate the finished handcrafted item. These items are then auctioned to the highest bidder in an online auction, with all proceeds going to charity.
All proceeds of this first challenge will be going to Big Ivy Community Food Bank.
The theme is Mother’s Day.

Woodworker Wood for Good FAQs

Can anyone participate?
Since this is a fledgling program and we want it to grow at a speed that we can maintain, woodworkers must receive an invitation to participate. If you are interested in participating in the next challenge, please shoot us a message on Instagram or Facebook.
Is there a fee to participate?
No! We just ask for your time and talent.
What are woodworkers responsible for?
Crafting an item that can be auctioned, donating the item to Cormark’s Wood for Community Good Initiative. We ask that the item be over $50 in value.
We also kindly ask that you share and promote the initiative to your online community.
How do woodworkers get the wood for the challenge?
Woodworkers are responsible for picking up the wood at Cormark. No shipping is available. Cormark will provide the wood off-cuts free of charge as long as you donate your item.
How do the donated handcrafted items raise money for charity?
Cormark will coordinate an online auction to sell all of the donated handcrafted items. All of the money raised in the auction will then be donated to a charity chosen by the Cormark team. This will change based on the needs within the community.
The fine print: This is by invitation only. You may not share this invitation with someone else. If you have another woodworker who you would like us to reach out to, let us know! You are responsible for picking up the wood at Cormark. No shipping is available. Your project must incorporate wood from the off-cut bin. You may use up to 10 lbs of wood from the bin at no charge. You are required to complete the handcrafted item by the agreed upon deadline and either deliver or ship the item to Cormark. If the project is incomplete, you will be charged for the wood taken from the bin.
