Have you ever considered a solid hardwood slab for a counter or kitchen island top?

Having recently gone through an entire kitchen remodel I was surprised at the amount of choices that are out there for counter tops.

Stone, whether it is Granite, Marble or Quartz remains a popular choice but recently people have begun to rediscover solid hardwood counter tops. With exotic names like Bubinga, Amazakoue and Sipo Mahogany; plus colors to suit a variety of tastes from a rich Mahogany brown to burgundy red and Salmon Pink to bright Orange. The ability to introduce the warm feeling of wood to a kitchen or bathroom can span the wide spectrum of tastes from traditional to contemporary.

Natural edge slabs are also making a come back and many people like the idea of minor flaws and less than perfect pieces, after all that is what separates us all and gives us each our own unique qualities.

Thinking green? These hardwoods are harvested following strict reforestation guide lines and innovations on tracking and monitoring the careful harvesting insures that everything is accounted for and strictly controlled. Additionally with the introduction of environmentally friendly, non toxic and highly durable finishes that not only enhance the beautiful grains of the various woods but also protect the surface from everyday wear and tear, this further lends weight to the idea of using renewable resources such as hardwood.

So next time your looking for an alternative option to what is commonly found in most home improvement centers, consider a beautiful Hardwood Slab.
